Oh, What A Life
American Authors

Released:
Mar 2014
Label:
Island Records
This relentlessly upbeat act has little in common with American authors, and you'd be hard-pressed to believe people this peppy could hail from Brooklyn. It's hard to figure out whether they're blending a hundred or a thousand familiar styles until a banjo solo cuts through the speed-rapped hand-clapper "Hit It," and you realize they're a hybrid of Mumford and Sons-style barroom trad, and the hyperslick pop of fun. and Youngblood Hawke. No one could accuse them of being hook-less, and it's hard to resist the big lighter-waving ballad "Home," complete with a positively presidential guitar solo.
