Beast Rest Forth Mouth

Bear In Heaven

image
Released: Oct 2009
Label: Oblique
Brooklyn's Bear in Heaven manage to make classic indie rock sound unquestionably modern on their sophomore album. As the title suggests, they throw caution to the (four) winds and twist up driving guitar/drums/bass/vox arrangements with electronics and dubby effects; like Jane's Addiction, whose influence is felt here, they use Krautrock's cosmic inclinations to enliven traditional rock structures. Full of ringing guitars and soaring voice, it's psychedelic, ambient post-rock with a disco flourish -- yet amazingly, it never loses its sense of purpose.
