Though a blues icon, Buddy Guy cares little for genre purity, which is precisely why he has followed up the blues-drenched Living Proof with Rhythm & Blues, a record clearly geared towards crossover success. In addition to cameos from Kid Rock ("Messin' With the Kid"), Keith Urban ("One Day Away") and Aerosmith ("Evil Twin"), it boasts charts from the legendary Muscle Shoals Horns. But the most fun and freewheeling of the myriad collaborations is "Blues Don't Care." Over juke-joint piano, Guy and Texas upstart Gary Clark, Jr. furiously trade licks as if the devil were in the studio with them.
