The Majestic Silver Strings

Buddy Miller

image
Released: Mar 2011
Label: New West Records
Americana guitarist Buddy Miller loves collaborative efforts, and The Majestic Silver Strings is no exception. The usual suspects are present, including Emmylou Harris and Patty Griffin. But there are a few surprises, too, namely Lee Ann Womack and jazz guitarist Marc Ribot. This cast of characters helps Miller create a moodily rambling record dripping in Texas swing, honky-tonk and vintage Nashville. The best cuts -- among them "Cattle Call," "I Want To Be With You Always" and a rockabilly version of the George Jones nugget "Why Baby Why" -- are aware of their history and tradition.
