El Cartel: The Big Boss (Explicit)
Daddy Yankee

Released:
Jun 2007
Label:
El Cartel Records Inc.
It's been three years since Daddy Yankee released his last album and made the cockeyed march of reggaeton a global household riddim. Personally, we haven't stopped listening to "Gasolina" since. Nothing on El Cartel has infected our brains quite like that ditty, but Dad! Dy! still knows how to put the giddyup in our glutes. Of course, he once again proves himself the reigning king of reggaeton -- heck, he makes Fergie sound a fuego. But he's also doing more with hip-hop in the mainland idiom than a lot of artists: see "Jefe" and "Todos Quieren A Raymond" (yes, Daddy, we do).
