Death Cab For Cutie

image
Released: Mar 2015
Label: Atlantic Records
The first Death Cab album not entirely produced by departed bandmate and sonic architect Chris Walla wants to sound as crisp, spacious, and elegantly glacial as the band's earlier work, and succeeds: Bask in the ultra-clean soundscape of "The Ghosts of Beverly Drive" or the ominous, percolating drip of "Black Sun." But Walla was also one of the band's songwriters, and the slightly underwritten "Hold No Guns" and the condescending "Ingenue" are better reasons to worry about his absence than anything in the sound.
