Heart On

EODM (Eagles Of Death Metal)

image
Released: Oct 2008
Label: Downtown Records
Eagles of Death Metal offer more semi-parody and macho-man tongue on Heart On, oohing and ahhing about tight pants, alleyway makeouts and selling their souls in L.A. But all good comics have their dark side, and even through the '70s-inspired jollity that drips off their falsetto shivers and bending strings, there's a solemnity revealed here. "Now I'm a Fool," "Heart On" and "Solo Flights" sweep in lovelorn frustration and brutal honesty. Still, the graveness never lasts too long: "Cheap Thrills" and "Prissy Prancin'" embrace the sleazy fun, and all heartbreaks are forgotten.
