Biography

Although he never gained the national recognition most of his peers enjoyed, stand-up comedian Greg Giraldo was a regular figure on several Comedy Central shows, as well as a frequent (and brutal) contributor to that channel's many celebrity roasts. In 2004, the Lazy B song "Underwear Goes Inside the Pants," featuring Giraldo ranting over hip-hop beats, became a viral sensation. From there, Giraldo released a pair of stand-up albums, Good Day to Cross a River in 2006 and Midlife Vices in 2009, and appeared on Colin Quinn's Comedy Central show Tough Crowd and Lewis Black's Root of All Evil. In a live setting, Giraldo delivered biting social commentary and hilariously discomforting confessions, with his bad marriages (two of them) and penchant for alcohol and drugs providing abundant material. Tragically, Giraldo died of a prescription drug overdose in September 2010.
