Vicious Delicious

Infected Mushroom

image
Released: Apr 2007
Label: PMI Digital
Of course Vicious Delicious opens with a snippet of gypsy guitar work. Faux-exotica vibes is what psytrance is all about. But after that Infected Mushroom challenges the genre's accepted aesthetic. On "Becoming Insane," they revisit psytrance's roots in late '80s industrial dance-rock. On "Artillery," in contrast, the Israeli duo busts some nu metal and alt-rock. Old-school fans might wonder what's going on, but no worries -- "Suliman" and the title track are vintage Infected Mushroom.
