One of the biggest shocks of 2015 came when husband and wife duo Joey and Rory Feeks announced that Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer. The two have publicly shared the ups and downs of their journey, including her decision to stop treatment and enjoy being a mom and wife for what time she has left. And while the duo have always talked openly about their faith (see their 2013 release, _Inspired_), it’s impossible for this backstory not to color the couple’s new album, _Hymns That Are Important to Us_. As the title suggests, the album includes their favorite sacred songs -- many with minimal accompaniment (“Take My Hand, Precious Lord”) -- decorated with the duo’s trademark neo-traditional country spin. Certainly, the words and prayers here have never resonated so poignantly.
