More Issues Than Vogue (Explicit)

K. Michelle’s third album sorts through more issues than your favorite fashion bible. On the one hand, she continues to build a reputation as one of the most delightfully unpredictable ladies in R&B. Her country-ish pop ballad “If It Ain’t Love” is one of her best tracks, she swags over a sample of OutKast’s “SpottieOttieDopalicious” on “Got ‘Em Like,” and scores an EDM pop duet with Jason Derulo on “Make the Bed.” But she maintains an aggressive stance, from equating love with a financial acquisition on “Ain’t You,” to singing a plethora of breakup songs where the man, not her, is at fault. She also can be emotionally exhausting -- “I don’t care you if you don’t like me,” she sings, before whispering, “because I’m rich.”
