Pianist Keith Jarrett and bassist Charlie Haden are old friends, but this exquisite ballad set is the result of their first collaboration in decades. The lights are low and the mood is relaxed, but these two never sound sleepy; instead, they come alive in each other's company -- a musical love match. Jarrett writes in his liner notes: "An ecstatic moment in music is worth the lifetime of mastery... because it can be shared." And this album is full of ecstatic moments. Even though it was recorded in the pianist's home, it still has that "created in God's studio" ECM Records sound.
