Cho Dependent (Explicit)

Margaret Cho

image
Released: Jan 2010
Label: Clownery Records
We could read a lot into Margaret Cho's first album of songs -- she lays bare the messages under most pop music and subverts gender politics -- but really, Cho Dependent is mainly an excuse for the comedian to jam with her indie-studded Rolodex: Andrew Bird, Tegan and Sara, Grant-Lee Phillips, et al. Cho can actually sing, so the album's a little too good to be totally funny and a little too funny to be merely good. Most successful is the diss track "My Puss," which pits two chochas against each other to hilarious effect. Guess who comes out on top?
