Maximum Balloon is less a solo project than it is a powerhouse collaboration led by Dave Sitek, producer (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and TV on the Radio guitarist. With both YYYs and TVotR, Sitek has increasingly added a heavy electronic component, a sound fully realized with Maximum Balloon. Sitek knows his vocalists well, crafting brass-blasting funk for David Byrne; disco-flavored Afrobeat for Aku; a Marvin Gaye groove for Kyp Malone; bass-y dissonance for Tunde Adebimpe; and dreamy downtempo for Karen O, Ambrosia Parsley and Little Dragon's Yukimi Nagano to slither their seductive coos around.
