Dreams Worth More Than Money (Explicit)

Meek Mill

image
Released: Jun 2015
Label: MMG/Atlantic
This is an improvement over Meek Mill's disappointing 2012 debut. By cutting out his wack attempts at urban radio pop -- well, except for "All Eyes on You," where he and Nicki Minaj make goo-goo eyes at each other -- the Philly rapper emphasizes his adrenalized flow and starkly personal lyrics. He talks of running the streets as a kid, "stomachs touching our ribs" on "Cold Hearted," and admits that nowadays, despite being "The Trillest," he's "been losing touch with my family." He hasn't made an instant classic, and some tracks are better than others, but his growth is impressive anyway.
