Biography

It was only a matter of time before an act came along that found a way to fuse dance rock and neo-Nickelback grunge. That band is called My Darkest Days. Founded by singer Matt Walst (brother of Three Days Grace bassist Brad Walst), the band came together in Norwood, Ontario, a sleepy burgh about two hours northeast of Toronto. After a few years spent paying their dues on the club circuit, the act's music caught the ear of Nickelback's Chad Kroeger. His A-list stature in the music industry helped My Darkest Days land a deal with Island Def Jam/Mercury Records. The group's self-titled debut came out in 2010 and features an impressive list of cameos. In addition to Kroeger, there's his pal, former Ozzy Osbourne axeman Zakk Wylde. Rapper-for-hire Ludacris and busty, country-fried pop tart Jessie James also make appearances. The album's lead single, "Porn Star Dancing," is one of the more racy anthems to be released in the modern-rock era. Kroeger dug it so much that he's a featured guest.
