Mountain Soul

Patty Loveless

image
Released: Jun 2001
Label: Epic
Patty Loveless turned to her Appalachian mountain roots for Mountain Soul, and from a creative point of view, it's a place she knows and loves. This collection of songs evokes shades of a bygone era, with close harmonies and both gospel and bluegrass shaping much of its foundation. Although Mountain Soul peaked at No. 19 on the country chart, it stayed on that chart for over a year, proving that even without commercial radio support, country-music fans knew a pure labor of love when they heard one.
