Nothing Like This
Rascal Flatts

Released:
Nov 2010
Label:
Big Machine Records, LLC
The Rascal boys open with a few big ballads, including a globally aimed Natasha Bedingfield breakup duet, plus synthy studio jigs about eloping and vacationing. Then, on the seventh cut, the energy picks up. A red sports car inspires punchy pop-rock guitar riffs out of an '80s Scandal single; then there's some convincing blue-eyed soul ("They Try"), and then a second summer-themed sequel to 2009's delectably crunchy hit "Summer Nights." "Summer Young" and "Tonight Tonight" are both syncopated almost like early disco songs; in fact, the latter even mentions disco balls -- and Tom Petty, too.
