All We Need (Explicit)

Raury

Released: Oct 2015
Label: Love Renaissance/Columbia
Raury takes as many cues from the orchestral pop of Danger Mouse (who appears here as a producer) as from post-millennial touchstones like Andre 3000 and Kanye West. That’s not unusual in our poptimist era, but Raury’s Southern hippie persona is notably different. He raps on “Forbidden Knowledge” alongside Big K.R.I.T. and sings, “I thought you loved the clouds” with the RZA on “CPU.” “I can take your ass to church and show you glimpses of heaven,” he claims on “Devil’s Whisper.” He sounds like a dreamy kid too good-natured for rap, yet he proves he’s tough enough to express himself.
