The hardcore Swedes left on a mighty high note with this, their third and final album. "How can we expect anyone to listen, if we're using the same old voice/ We need new noise," Dennis Lyxzen bellows. He ain't kidding -- this is not the punk your parents pogoed to. Sure it's shrill, sharp and seething, hard, heavy and firmly defiant, but The Shape of Punk to Come also references everyone from Ornette Coleman to Bo Diddley to fellow punk leftists Born Against, and it bombards with avant-metal, prog, jazz and even electronic elements, while still coming off beguilingly melodic and perceptive.
