Biography
The buttermilk inflections of Rita Coolidge have graced the works of such artists as Kris Kristofferson (to whom she was married), Stephen Stills, Delaney & Bonnie, and Eric Clapton, to name a few. Whether she's cooing along to a Country-Folk song or belting out the gospel of her soul, Coolidge serenades the listener with a natural tremolo that sounds womanly and feels like home. In 1971 she embarked upon a solo journey that birthed a stellar cover of Jackie Wilson's "Higher and Higher" as well as her own "We're All Alone." Thinkin' About You (1998) found her returning to the soft Country-Folk soundscapes where she began.
