School of Seven Bells' fourth and final album, based on material written in 2012 (guitarist and co-songwriter Benjamin Curtis succumbed to cancer in 2013), retools their lush, enveloping dream pop into a gorgeous swan song. "Ablaze" applies the band's shoegazing knack for dreamy layering, blurry guitars and nested stacks of synth tracks. “Music Takes Me” and “Open Your Eyes” whip up sugary clouds around delicate beats, and while diamond-bright synth-pop anthems like "Confusion" may be the quickest pop takeaways, it's the band's breathy dance grooves that will carry you away.
