Biography

Sort of a Western equivalent of Kentucky's Legendary Shack Shakers, these holy-roller country-gospel punks have a knack for cascading banjo runs, weeping steel guitar, and funny songs with top-notch hooks. They first got together in Denver in 1993, begat by other local bands -- most notably 16 Horsepower. Since then, they've swapped out members now and then, and even seen long, tall, sermonizing lead voice Cessna himself move his residence to Rhode Island. One colorfully named preacher, Rev. Adam Glasseye, is no longer in the fold; another, Reverend Dwight Pentacost, remains. But they've managed to regularly tour and release albums out of Colorado regardless -- including four studio full-lengths, all on Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles label, in the '00s alone.
