Snoop Dogg’s Coolaid is a smorgasbord of sounds and styles. The G-funk track “Ten Toes Down” finds him reflecting on life as a gangsta rap pioneer, and how he introduced Crip life to the kids of America. “Super Crip” starts out as a ratchet rhythm, and then segues into a smooth snare rhythm reminiscent of his classic 1991 debut “Deep Cover.” “Got Those” has a nice twinning beat courtesy of Timbaland, and “My Carz” is a kitschy and fun cover of Gary Numan’s New Wave chestnut. Snoop rolls best when he’s in his G-funk lane, but he’s not afraid to switch it up, whether it’s going trap on “Legend,” pairing with R&B seducer Jeremih on “Point Seen Money Gone,” or talking politics over the furious hip-hop throwback “Revolution.”
