Da Game Is To Be Sold, Not To Be Told (Explicit)
Snoop Dogg

Released:
Aug 1998
Label:
Priority Records
Snoop Dogg's third album resulted from a shotgun marriage with No Limit Records, which gave him refuge after Death Row's collapse. (He also changed his name from Snoop Doggy Dogg.) It was a jarring clash of sensibilities as the effortlessly smooth Long Beach icon rapped alongside rowdy N'awlins thugs on "Woof" and "Tru Tank Dogs." Da Game wasn't an irredeemable disaster -- its better moments included "Game of Life," "Snoop World" and "Watcha Gon Do?" The melodic funk bounce of "Still a G Thang" remains one of Snoop's best, and convinced fans that better days were ahead of him.
