Memories That Bless And Burn

The Dry Branch Fire Squad

image
Released: Oct 1999
Label: New Rounder
The Squad begin with a misleadingly haunting title track, then revert to their usual nature with the banjo-picking, elbow-wagging "Hide You In The Blood." Throughout, they mix echoing, twangy vocals; the fiddles and banjoes they've been playing since they were young'uns; and extra flavors such as hog-calling tenor lines. A fine export of Appalachian bluegrass gospel.
