The Felice Brothers

The Felice Brothers

image
Released: Mar 2008
Label: Chrysalis Records
After self-releasing three albums, the Felice Brothers dropped their first for a bona fide indie, Conor Oberst's Team Love label. Oberst just loves the Brothers. While touring together, they shared the stage night after night in an obvious homage to Dylan and the Band. That said, the Felice Brothers' rustic folk-rock draws inspiration from several wells. The atmospheric "Goddamn You, Jim" recalls Calexico's moody desert rock, while Ian Felice's froggy groan sounds not unlike John Prine and Richard Buckner.
