Biography

The Go-Betweens were an integral cult band of the 1980s that hailed from Brisbane, Australia. Their interpretation of influential British Invasion was filtered through the New Wave sounds that were prevalent at the time. These unreleased tracks come from a "lost" album recorded in 1979 in their hometown. It was previously shelved when a deal with Beserkley Records fell through (the label folded). Other rare gems include two singles and B-sides on the Able Lable from 1978 and 1979. The Go-Betweens changed drastically following these recordings, and most of these songs have never been heard or played live. This is early Indie pop that is clearly ahead of its time. The quirky changes, Punkish singing, and Surf-toned electric guitar strumming (as well as the rough, Lo-Fi production) have all found their way onto thousands of seven-inch singles on indie labels thereafter.
