The Place We Ran From

Tired Pony

Released: Sep 2010
Label: Heaneyville
Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody gathered friends -- including Belle & Sebastian drummer Richard Colburn, R.E.M.'s Peter Buck and producer Jacknife Lee -- for one week to record Tired Pony's debut. From the get-go, Lightbody's slow-building sentimentality takes the spotlight; on "Northwestern Skies" his lullaby croons resonate through a cave of jangly guitars and sleepy beats. Kicking up an Americana vibe, Zooey Deschanel guests on "Get on the Road" and "Point Me at Lost Islands"; Editors' Tom Smith lends his deep baritone to "The Good Book"; and Iain Archer offers the upbeat "I Am a Landslide."
