Released: Mar 2005
Label: Roadrunner Records
Amidst an apocalyptic symphony of jackhammer drums, razorblade guitars and demonic vocals, Trivium somehow manage to grab hold of mega-blasting hooks to crank out their unsettling brand of arena-(smashing)-rock metalcore. This band is way serious, way angry and way loud. Just check out the screamo-prog explosion of "A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation" – set dead in the middle of Ascendancy, it uses a massive chantalong chorus to build and then destroy a musical monument to all things metal. Safety warning: hardhat required in demolition zone.
