This follow-up to the 1996 bossa nova comp finds artists from around the world taking on '60s Tropicália. It's an apt choice for Red Hot, which raises money for HIV/AIDS work: Tropicália, a mix of psychedelic rock, lounge grooves and Brazilian folk, was a deceptively mellow, sun-kissed slice of cultural critique in the face of serious adversity. It's also flat-out gorgeous music that translates well: longtime fans Beck and David Byrne are right at home, of course, but even John Legend folds easily into the jazzy acoustics. Aloe Blacc sounds like he was born in an alternate-universe Brazil.
