Tales Of Creation

Candlemass

image
Released: Jan 2002
Label: Peaceville Records
The Swedish masters of sales-figure-busting goth/doom metal continued to define the genre with this fourth record. The last to feature the King Diamond-with-a-cold vocals of Messiah Marcolin, Tales of Creation finds Candlemass stronger than ever in an identity that is all their own, and regardless of any disdain snorted by metal purists, the completely smokin' instrumental "Into the Unfathomed Tower" proves Candlemass deserved the commercial adulation they received. Plus, this was on the short list of music to play when trying to get goth chicks back to your coffin. Sorry.
