Dean & Britta

image
Released: Feb 2007
Label: Double Feature
Another dreamy, gauzy set from Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips. Back Numbers mixes the atmospheric guitar sound of their old band Luna with the feel of cherished duet records by Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazlewood and Serge Gainsbourg/Jane Birkin. Though Britta brings the noise level up a couple of times, the mood is set somewhere between permanent midnight and Sunday morning, making the album a great listen for lovers or wounded, solitary romantics. The only complaint is that it should've kicked off with the second track, the fantastic "Words You Used to Say."
