The Shearing Piano
George Shearing

Released:
Jan 1956
Label:
CM BLUE NOTE (A92)
At this time, Shearing alternated between cutting orchestral make-out music, cool jazz recordings with his quintet, and Latin sessions. In a departure, Shearing sat down alone at the piano and showed off his classical training on a set of jazz standards. Impressionistic tracks like "Tenderly" and "Don't Explain" back up Bill Evans statements that Shearing was an influence.
