The in Crowd

Kidz in the Hall

Released: Apr 2008

We're not sure if Kidz in the Hall are in the in crowd, but they really, really want to be. The second album from this Ivy League-educated crew is steeped in the aesthetics that put emcee Naledge's hometown of Chicago on the hip-hop map: scratchy, vintage samples, an impeccably smooth flow and clever, creative, ever-so-slightly boastful rhymes. But while they're certainly cool enough to hang with Kanye, Common and Lupe, they've also worked just enough laid-back West Coast bluster (see "Drivin' Down the Block") and Digable Planets jazziness to help these Kidz fit in anywhere.
