Proving that his retro-mobile runs on more than mere nostalgia, Neon Indian follows up 2009's Psychic Chasms with a record that's tighter, brighter and as much about hooks as hazy affect. Credited with additional mixing and production, Dave Fridmann lends extra heft to the jewel-toned electro-pop baubles, which range from gauzy My Bloody Valentine tributes like "The Blindside Kiss" to the richly layered synth-pop of "Suns Irrupt." The standout "Polish Girl" is one of 2011's catchiest singles in any genre.
