Shake Electric

Spiders

Released: Oct 2014
Label: Universal Music AB
Still more garage-glam than their guitarist from Sweden's psych-metal Witchcraft implies, Spiders keep it tight again: 10 songs in under 34 minutes. The best, "Mad Dog" -- a fuzz-swinging, man-spurning granddaughter of Babe Ruth's "Black Dog" -- comes first. In "Control," badass frontwoman Ann-Sofie Hoyles goes "boom! boom! boom!" over another killer riff, courtesy Diamond Head or Joy Division. "Lonely Nights" and "Bleeding Heart" are more Aldo Nova/early Bryan Adams, the latter with cowbells, which reappear in "Back on the Streets." "War of the World" ends the bash with an MC5 bleacher stomp
