Not So Loud: An Acoustic Evening with the Bottle Rockets

The Bottle Rockets

image
Released: Aug 2011
Label: Bloodshot Records
Alt country icons The Bottle Rockets perform in an intimate setting with mostly acoustic instruments. The band may not be amplified, but the Kenney Jones-style solidity of drummer Mark Ortmann shows how these dudes can't help but play rock 'n' roll, even if it's unplugged, shot through with country and played with mandolins. Those drums, singer Brian Henneman's eternally likeable and flat-out funny onstage banter and the whole band's knack for finding the spot where country and '90s music meet up make Not So Loud as good a listen for the die-hards as for the newcomer.
