With the band's combo of contemplative guitars, big strings, intimate vocals and lightly funky rapping more omnipresent than ever, #3 is so resolutely dramatic and uplifting, you almost wonder if The Script converted to a new religion. But let's not forget these are Irish hip-hop-rockers, so all that heartstrings-yanking is in their DNA. Breakup song "Six Degrees" is given all the storytelling flourish of a narrative folksong; there's an Irish proverb disguised as a funky-fresh jam in "Give the Love," and a tribute to Danny's deceased dad is packed with the tender pathos of a barroom ballad.
