My Kind Of Country

Released: Oct 2007
Label: Columbia Nashville
Donnie (.38 Special) and brother Johnny (Lynyrd Skynyrd) open their fifth LP with "Train," a roadhouse rocking hit with white-hot guitars and sultry ooohs in the chorus that recall Exile-era Stones. And although "These Colors Don't Run" fuses bumper-sticker sentiment with sappy balladry, it is catchier than the Pledge of Allegiance (and you can slow-dance to it). Overall, My Kind Of Country has a warm and earthy feel, thanks to the brotherly harmonies as well as the vintage guitar tones you'd otherwise hear on early '70s outlaw country vinyl.
